Would you believe it's been almost 4 years since I had a real date?!? I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't have lived it myself. But the reality of two small children and an overprotective mama makes for a bad combination. Add to that the lack of any real babysitter and 4 years can pass really easily. Too easily.
We decided it was time to get out and enjoy some adult company. It was past time actually but we were trying our best to make a bad situation livable. It's not ideal to let that much time pass without any real time together. We asked around and found a sitter to help. We scheduled it, marked it on the calendar and couldn't wait. What would happen on that scheduled day??? I got sick, really sick and we had to cancel. I felt horrible because I was afraid our one chance for a night out was gone.
After a week of a sick family it was time to schedule a sitter again. I picked the following Saturday. What day was that? It was January 2, the anniversary of the day we met 9 years earlier. It must have been fate.
We got all dressed up, said goodbye to the kids and left. I wasn't too worried because I knew the kids were ready for this. The sitter just had to put them to bed and we weren't going very far. We ended up going to PF Changs for dinner. We had been wanting to try it for some time but didn't think it was the place to bring kids. We had a wonderful dinner, a great waitress and even better food. Of course being the chatty people we are we told the waitress our story about how long it's been since we have been out and that it was the anniversary of the day we met. I didn't think much about it but when it was time to pay our check the waitress came to us and said that the manager had paid our tab. I couldn't even believe it! We just had to pay for our drinks. We paid for the drinks and left our waitress a great tip.
It was 7:45 when we walked out the restaurant. We were so happy and excited and didn't even know what to do with ourselves. What do people do at night? We are new to the area so we don't know of any hip places to go. I called the sitter and to see how the kids went to bed and they were doing great. We then decided to keep our night going and head out to Westgate. Westgate is a cool area with a bunch of restaurants and stores. We had another drink and just talked and talked. It was so much fun!
Would you believe I work a sleeveless dress on our date in January?!? Only in Arizona!

Hot hot hot !!!
You need to post pics of your first date!!
Pretty good my foot, you look amazing!
And how fun!
We need to do the same. Schedule a date night that is, the liklihood of me wearing a sleeveless dress is slim to none and slim left town, there is a foot or better of snow on the ground!
PF Changs is AMAZING.
Have you ever done the melting pot, George and I have talked about it a dozen times, and never actually done it.
I haven't been to the Melting Pot. I have heard it's super yummy! What a perfect spot for date #2, nothing like feeding each other yummy stuff to get ya in the mood ;-)
